March Madness Hits Lew Rockwell

Earlier in the month, a Rockwell blogger pulled the race card as described in the posting below. Now another blogger is pulling the religion card describing Christianity as one which advocates violence between religions and other such nonsense.

Christopher Manion writes that Christianity is an "apocalyptic religious ideology that advocates violence between religions culminating in Armageddon, a worldwide holocaust, and the end of the world."

Christianity doesn't "advocate" violence, it predicts it. Much like people at Lew Rockwell predict the collapse of the US economy. Apparently, only libertarian bigots get to make predictions about the future. And anyone (a Christian) making an prediction about the violent nature of the human race is a crank even though predicting violence among human is as sensible as predicting the laws of economics.

Manion acts like violence didn't exist before Christianity and now that Christianity exists all of a sudden the human race is headed for a new and unexpected thing: future violence.

He furthers embarrasses himself with his "end of the world" comment. The New Testament never teaches the "end of the world". Manion is making that up. The NT teaches about the end of human rule over earth and its continued eternal nature in the future after Armageddon. It teaches about earth's renewal and perfection, and not about its end.

Manion is an ignorant boob who believes in a myth about the "end of the world" only to make fun of it. And perhaps in his haste to make stupid statements about Christianity, he forget to mock the apocalyptic nature of Islam's day of judgment with the return of the Mahdi (Wikipedia). This amounts to: Christian apocalypse: bad. Muslim apocalypse: okey-dokey. It's likely that Manion just doesn't know much about Islam either.

There is a lot of this type of thinking by Rockwell libertarians.

They do seem to favor the Muslims. Why don't they mind defending a religion that advocates sexual slavery and having sex with children? Don't they know that Mohammad did those things, and everything he did (except for the number of wives a man may have) is to be emulated by Muslims?

I'm sure Manion thinks he is smarter than Christians. If so why did he get so much wrong about Christianity? And why wasn't he equally annoyed with Islam? Imperial Islam was founded by a religious leader who led a rampaging military across the Arabian peninsula attacking the innocent, raping, robbing, and enslaving. Such behavior is to be ignored?

Jesus didn't lead an army. He didn't attack the innocent. He never had sex with a nine-year old and he didn't rape sex slaves which he traded with his friends. But it's Christianity which is to be mocked at Lew Rockwell.
